Titan Drive lets you share a file or folder with a link, so people can open it without you sending a copy. Recipients always see the latest version, and you can protect a link with a password, an expiry date, and your own branding. This article is for anyone using Titan Drive and shows you how to create and manage share links.
| alert-warning | Password protection, the longest expiry you can set, and download limits depend on your email plan. |
How sharing works
A share link points to a file or folder in Titan Drive, and anyone with the link can open it any time. The link always shows the latest content, so:
- New files you add to a shared folder appear for recipients automatically.
- Files you delete or rename are updated in the shared view.
- Files you update or replace always show their latest version.
- You don't need a new link after you make changes.
Use sharing when you want people to have ongoing access to the same content.
Share or Transfer?
Titan Drive also has Transfer, which sends a one-time copy. Use this table to pick the right one. For more detail, see the Share vs Transfer article.
| Share | Transfer | |
| Access | Ongoing access | One-time delivery |
| Updates show automatically | Yes | No |
| What the recipient sees | The latest version | A snapshot of the files when you sent them |
| How long the link works | Until it expires or you turn it off | Meant for sending a copy once |
| Folder navigation | Supported | Not supported |
| Best for | Collaboration and recurring access | Sending a fixed copy |
For a detailed comparison, see the dedicated Share vs Transfer article.
Share a file or folder
You can open the Share Link dialog in two ways.
Method 1: Use the file menu
- Open Titan Drive.
- Hover over the file or folder you want to share.
- Click the ⋮ icon.
- Click Share.
Method 2: Use the toolbar
- In Titan Drive, select the file or folder you want to share.
- In the file actions toolbar, click the Share icon.
The Share Link dialog opens.
In the Share Link dialog, you can:
- Copy the link.
- Add a password.
- Set or change when the link expires.
- Reactivate an expired link.
By default, a new link is active and never expires.
Protect your link with a password
- Open the Share Link dialog.
- Enter a password.
- Copy the link.
- Send the link to your recipients.
Recipients must enter the correct password before they can open the content. If they enter the wrong one, access is denied and an error message appears. The password stays hidden as they type.
Set when your link expires
- Open the Share Link dialog.
- Click Expiry Settings.
- Choose an expiry option.
You can choose:
- 7, 14, or 30 days
- A custom expiry date
- Never expire
After the expiry date, recipients can't open the content until you reactivate the link.
Reactivate an expired link
| alert-warning | If a link stays expired for more than 6 months, Titan may replace it with a new link for security. The old link then stops working, so you'll need to send the new link to your recipients. |
- Open Titan Drive.
- Find the shared file or folder.
- Open the share settings.
- Click Reactivate Link.
The same content becomes available again, and the original link may work again. A reactivated link expires after 30 days unless you change it.
What recipients see
Recipients open your content through the share link. If you added a password, they see a password page first, and the content opens after they enter it.
Depending on what you shared, recipients can:
- Preview supported file types.
- Download single files.
- Download all the shared files.
- Open the folders you shared.
- See updated file versions through the same link.
Download limits
Each time a recipient clicks Download or Download All, it counts as one download. Your plan sets the limit for shared files and Transfers. When the limit is reached, recipients can't download any more, and they see a Download limit reached message. They may need to contact you.
Share with a branded page
You can show your shared content on a page that uses your organization's branding. This gives recipients a more professional and trusted experience. To set it up, see Set Up Drive Branding in Titan Drive.

What you'll see when you're done
You'll have a share link ready to copy and send. Recipients who open it see the latest version of your file or folder, and any password or expiry date you set applies to them.
