You can save a copy of any email for your records, invoices, approvals, or compliance purposes. This article is for anyone using Titan webmail on a computer. It shows you how to save an email as a PDF, and how to turn that PDF into an editable Word file.
Before you begin
It works on Titan webmail on a computer. It is not currently available in the Titan mobile app.
| alert-success | Titan does not currently support exporting an email directly as a PDF or Word file from within the mailbox. The steps below use printing to PDF as a workaround, then convert that PDF to Word. |
Save an email as a PDF
Open the email you want to save.
At the top of the email thread, click the three-dot menu (⋮).
-
In the menu, select Print conversation.
In the print dialog box, set the destination to Save as PDF.
Click Save.
Choose a location on your device, then confirm the save.
Your email is saved as a PDF file at the location you chose.
Convert the PDF to a Word file
If you need the email in Word format, convert the saved PDF using one of the two options below.
Option 1: Using Microsoft Word
Open Microsoft Word.
Click File.
Click Open.
Select the PDF you saved earlier.
Word converts the file to an editable document.
Click File.
Click Save As.
Choose Word Document (.docx) as the file type, then click Save.
Word opens the file as an editable document, and your DOCX file is saved to the location you chose.
Option 2: Using an online PDF-to-Word converter
You can also use an online converter tool. Upload the PDF to the tool, then download the converted DOCX file.
| Online converters upload your file to a third-party website. Avoid this option for emails containing confidential information, such as invoices, approvals, or compliance records. |
Troubleshooting
Problem: The print dialog doesn't show a "Save as PDF" destination
Cause: This option depends on your browser and operating system.
Fix: Try a different browser, such as Chrome or Edge. If it still does not appear, check your operating system's print settings for a "Microsoft Print to PDF" or similar option.
Problem: Microsoft Word won't open the saved PDF
Cause: The PDF file may not have finished saving, or the version of Word you're using may not support opening PDFs directly.
Fix: Confirm the PDF opens correctly on its own first. If it does, but Word still won't open it, use Option 2: Using an online PDF-to-Word converter instead.
