Titan's MX and TXT records must be added where your domain's authoritative DNS zone is hosted—the provider that currently manages your domain's DNS records. This isn't always the same company where you registered or purchased your domain.
This article will help you identify your domain's authoritative DNS host by checking its nameservers, so you'll know exactly where to add Titan's DNS records.
Why is this important?
Your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain) and your DNS host (where your DNS records are managed) may be different companies. For example, you may have registered your domain with one provider but delegated DNS management to another provider such as Cloudflare, Wix, Squarespace, or your web hosting company.
Before adding Titan's DNS records, you should first determine which provider is currently managing your domain's DNS.
To identify your domain's authoritative DNS Zone/host, follow the steps below:
- Go to a DNS lookup tool, such as DNS Checker - DNS Check Propagation Tool
- In the search bar, enter your domain name.
- Click the dropdown next to the search bar.
- Select NS (this stands for Nameserver — the setting that identifies your domain's DNS host).
- Click on the search button
- The results shown in blue are your domain's nameservers. These identify which company currently hosts your domain's DNS records.
Next, you will need to visit the DNS control panel of the company corresponding to the nameservers you found above by referring to the table below:
| alert-warning | Your nameservers might not match a table entry exactly, but they should follow a similar pattern (for example, ns1.hostingcompany.com). If you see more than one set of nameservers listed, use the one showing as the current, active result. |

Once your nameservers match a row above, that's your current DNS host. Go to that provider's DNS settings panel (sometimes called DNS, Zone File, or Advanced DNS) to add your Titan MX and TXT records there — not with your domain registrar, if the two are different.
