Internal forwarding lets you automatically send copies of email sent to one address to one or more other mailboxes on your domain. It's useful for routing mail from a shared or department address (like sales@yourdomain.com) to the people who need to see it, without giving them a separate inbox to check.
Prerequisites
You need admin access to the Email Control Panel to create a forwarding account. If you don't have a login, ask your account admin to set one up or create the forwarder for you.
| alert-warning | If you're a Blacknight user, log in at manage-euc1.titan.email instead of the standard Email Control Panel link below. |
Create the forwarding account
- Go to the Email Control Panel and log in with your admin credentials.
- In the left-hand menu, click Internal forwarding accounts.
- Click Create an internal forwarding account.
- In the From field, enter the email address you want to forward mail from.
- In the To field, enter the email address you want to forward mail to. To forward to more than one address, press Enter after each address to add another.
| alert-warning | You cannot set up email forwarding on an email address if it is attached to a mailbox. For instance, if you have an email address named john@domainname.com, you cannot forward this address to any other email address like max@domainname.com |
- Click Create Internal Forwarding Account. You'll see your new forwarder listed on the Internal forwarding accounts page once it's created.
What success looks like
Your new forwarding account appears in the list on the Internal forwarding accounts page, showing the From address and the To address(es) you set. From now on, any email sent to the From address is automatically copied to each To address you added.
Troubleshooting
Problem: The "Create Internal Forwarding Account" button won't save, or shows an error mentioning an existing mailbox.
Cause: The From address you entered already has a mailbox attached to it. Titan can't forward mail for an address that also receives mail directly.
Fix: Use a From address that isn't tied to a mailbox, or, if you want to redirect mail from an existing mailbox, set up outgoing forwarding instead.
Problem: You can't log in to the Email Control Panel using the standard link.
Cause: Blacknight-hosted accounts use a different Email Control Panel URL.
Fix: Log in at manage-euc1.titan.email instead.
Problem: You've reached a limit on the number of forwarders you can create.
Cause: The number of internal forwarding accounts allowed depends on your plan.
Fix: See How many internal email forwarders can be set up? for current limits, or contact your account admin.
