Want to make Titan your go-to email app on your Android device? Setting it as your default ensures that all email links (like mailto: links on websites or in apps) open directly in Titan, so you can manage your email more efficiently. In this guide, we'll walk you through steps to set Titan as your default email app.
What You’ll Need
Before you begin, please make sure that the Titan Mail app is installed from the Google Play Store on your phone and that you're logged in to the desired account.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to add Titan Mail to your phone.

How to Set Titan As The default
Unlike some other apps, Android doesn’t provide a direct option in Settings to select a default email app. Instead, Titan is set as your default automatically when you tap on any clickable email address (mailto: link) and choose Titan. It’s quick and easy, just follow the simple steps below!
Here’s how it works:
-
Find a clickable email link, such as support@titan.email
-
When you tap on it, Android will show a pop-up asking which app you'd like to use to open the link.
-
You’ll see a list of installed email apps like Titan, Gmail, Outlook or others.
-
Select Titan.
-
Look for an option that says “Always”, “Just Once”, or “Don’t ask again” (Please note, this will be different depending on your device).
-
Tap “Always” or check “Don’t ask again”.
By choosing “Always” or enabling “Don’t ask again”, your device will remember your selection and set it as the default app for opening email links in the future.
How to Set Titan As Default If Another App Is Already Set
If you've already chosen an email app as the default in the past, like Gmail or Outlook, and now want to switch to Titan, you'll need to clear the current default first.
Here’s how to do it:
-
Go to your phone's Settings.
-
Tap on Apps (or Apps & notifications, depending on your device).
-
Scroll through the list or search and tap on the currently set email app (e.g., Gmail).
-
Tap "Set as defaults/Open by default" (you might find this under "Advanced" settings and will be different depending on your device).
-
Tap "Clear defaults/Clear Preferences".
Once you’ve done that:
-
Find a mailto link or clickable email address such as support@titan.email and tap it.
-
You’ll now be prompted again to choose an app, select Titan.
-
Tap "Always" (or "Don’t ask again", depending on your Android version) to set Titan as your default email app.
From now on, email links will open in Titan instead of the previously set app.
What Happens If You Install Another Email App Later?
Even after you've set Titan as your default email app, installing a new email client (like Gmail, Outlook, or others) may trigger Android to show the app chooser pop-up again when you tap on an email link.
This happens because Android detects the newly installed app as a potential handler for email links and wants to confirm your preference again.
In such cases, here's what you should do:
-
If you see the pop-up when you tap on an email link after installing another email app, simply select Titan again.
-
Tap "Always" or check "Don’t ask again" when selecting Titan to re-confirm it as your default.
This ensures that Titan continues to open email links by default moving forward.
