Titan's Email Import tool moves your existing emails from another email provider into your Titan mailbox. It's for admins who are migrating a mailbox to Titan. After following this guide, your old emails will appear in your Titan inbox, organized into matching folders.

Check your mailbox storage
Before importing, confirm your Titan mailbox has enough free space to hold everything you're bringing over from your old provider.
Go to your Email Control Panel at manage.titan.email (Blacknight, MonoVM, DomainDiscount24, Fluccs, or Domain Central customers, use manage-euc1.titan.email instead).
-
Find the mailbox you're importing into and check the Usage/Quota column. This shows how much storage that mailbox has used and how much is available.
Check the storage usage of your old mailbox with your current email provider. If you can't find it, contact their support team and ask for your mailbox's storage usage.
If your old mailbox uses more storage than you have free in Titan, free up space or upgrade your Titan plan before continuing.
Get your IMAP details
IMAP is the setting that lets Titan securely connect to your old mailbox and copy its contents. You'll need these details from your previous provider before you can start the import.
Contact your previous email provider's support team, or check their help documentation, for your mailbox's IMAP server details.
Note down three details: the Incoming Server (IMAP) address, the Incoming Port (usually 993), and the password for your existing mailbox.
Example: if your emails are currently hosted with GoDaddy, these details typically look like Incoming Server: imap.secureserver.net, Incoming Port: 993 (SSL required).
Start the import
| alert-warning | Titan does not import Spam or Trash folders. Imports run in this order: Inbox → Drafts → Sent → other folders, newest emails first. You can queue multiple mailbox imports at the same time. |
-
In the Email Control Panel, click Import email data.
-
Click Import a mailbox.
- In the Remote IMAP details window, enter the IMAP Server / IP Address for your old mailbox (from the previous section).
- Enter the IMAP Port, for example 993.
- Set Source Server requires SSL to Yes if your provider requires it.
- Enter your Remote Email Address — the address of the mailbox you're importing from.
- Enter your Remote Email Password — the password for that mailbox.
- Select the Titan Email — the Titan mailbox where the imported emails will go.
- Enter an Alternate Email Address to receive notifications about the import status.
- Submit the details. Titan queues the import automatically — you don't need to do anything else.
What success looks like
Once you submit your import details, the mailbox appears in your Import email data list with a status of In progress.
Emails start appearing in your Titan inbox as they're transferred — newest first, followed by older emails. Folders are imported in this order: Inbox, then Drafts, Sent, and other folders. Depending on the size of the source mailbox, this can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
When the import finishes, the status changes to Completed, and your Titan mailbox will match your old one — except for Spam and Trash, which are never imported.
Update your DNS records
Once the import finishes, update your domain's DNS records so Titan handles email for your domain going forward.
- Go to the list of MX and TXT record setup guides and search for your hosting or domain provider.
- Follow the guide for your specific provider to complete the DNS configuration.
Troubleshooting
Import is stuck on "In progress" for more than 24 hours
Problem: The status never changes to Completed, even after waiting.
Cause: Usually the IMAP details or login credentials entered don't match the source mailbox, or the source mailbox lost its connection partway through.
Fix: Double-check the IMAP server address, port, and password against what your provider gave you, confirm the source mailbox is still active, and try again. If it's still stuck after 24 hours, contact Titan support.
Some emails are missing after the import finishes
Problem: The import shows Completed, but a folder you expected isn't there.
Cause: Titan doesn't import Spam or Trash folders by design, since they usually contain unwanted or already-deleted mail.
Fix: Check the Spam and Trash folders in your original mailbox directly. If you need any of those emails, move them into another folder in the source mailbox and run the import again.
Import fails with a storage limit error
Problem: The import stops and shows an error mentioning storage or quota.
Cause: Your Titan mailbox has reached its plan's storage limit, so there's no room left for the incoming data.
Fix: Check your storage usage in the Email Control Panel, then free up space or upgrade your plan before restarting the import.
